The discovery of the volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote and Sicily provided a completely new source for the Artist's work, and added a new energy and vibrancy of palette that is completely different from the trend of abstract Irish landscape art. The Artist's volcanic series is expressive & modern, yet also seems to be linked very strongly with the romantic tradition of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
